====== The Network Layer ======

The Network Layer is the third layer from the bottom of [[osi_model|OSI model]]. The layer is responsible for packet-forwarding including routing: it chooses the best path for the packet to travel. The network layer responds to service requests from the [[network-layer_transport|transport layer]] and issues service requests to the [[network-layer_datalink|data link layer]].
